In his research, Dr. George Robertson investigates the cause of cell death in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and stroke, and how to keep grafted brain cells alive. Dr. Robertson takes a systems biology approach in his study of the mechanisms of cell death and survival in the central nervous system using a variety of experimental models for neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders. Dr. Robertson’s industrial and academic expertise in translational neuroscience and drug discovery are major assets in the Brain Repair Centre's search for treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
