Dr. Harold Robertson’s research is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's diease. He is a collaborator in the clinical trial to validate dopamine cell transplantation in Parkinson's patients and is principal investigator on a project studying olfactory testing and MRI for early detection of Parkinson's disease.

Dr. Robertson is also working with a biotech firm, Neurodyn Inc, to use ginseng to halt the progression of Parkinson's disease and to use a neurotrophic enhancer to improve transplantation efficacy. He is also investigating endogenous stem cells and has discovered that sonic hedgehog and its agonists improve graft survival in Parkinsonian animals.

Dr. Robertson has published over 170 papers on neurotransmission, gene expression in the brain, dopamine and dopaminergic drugs in Parkinson's disease, and molecular neurobiology of Huntington's disease. He is a co-founder of the Brain Repair Centre, and is Past-President of the Canadian College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
