Dr. Raymond Klein

http://or.psychology.dal.ca/~klein/

Dr. Raymond M. Klein is a cognitive neuroscientist whose basic research on human attention and performance has generated over 200 publications. Yet, since his first sabbatical at Bell Telephone Laboratories, he has had an interest in applying the methods of experimental psychology to help solve real-world problems. His research has dealt with problems as diverse as graphic user interface design; on whether art students become more expert-like with training; on problem gambling; and on whether a hands-free phone is safer during driving.

More recently he has advised on the detection and perception of counterfeit currency, and conducted research on how to optimize the performance of off-shore oil and gas workers in emergencies.

His long-time collaboration with Dr. Gail Eskes has led to a successful grant from ACOA to develop a computerized training battery for individuals suffering from cognitive problems due to stroke and Parkinson's disease.
