Dr. Raymond Klein

"How does the human mind work?" Dr. Raymond Klein has been pre-occupied with this question since he began graduate school. He became an expert on the concept of attention, which is at the nexus of this challenging question; and in the methods of mental chronometry and cognitive neuroscience. Although basic research on normal human attention and performance is his main preoccupation, Dr. Klein has a long standing interest in applying his knowledge to solve real-world problems, especially those that rooted in disorders of attention (e.g., attention deficit disorder, problem gambling, schizophrenia, and disorders caused by damage to the brain as a result of strokes, tumors or accidents).

His long-time collaboration with Dr. Gail Eskes has led to a successful grant from ACOA to develop a computerized training battery for individuals suffering from cognitive problems due to stroke and Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Klein is excited by the excellent prospects for "mind repair" that are offered by this project and others sponsored by the Brain Repair Centre.
