Dr. Leslie uses brain imaging techologies (for example different forms of functional magnetic resonance imaging - MRI) to study disease mechanisms and help develop more sensitive and selective diagnostic procedures for neurological and psychiatric disorders with a current focus on Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia. He is also working with colleagues in the Faculty of Medicine to study the effects of the stress response on the brain to investigate brain developmental aspects involving interactions between the endocrine and nervous systems. With a background in both the industrial and academic sectors Dr. Leslie brings his research experience to bear on the Brain Repair Centre's goal of taking the breakthroughs of medical science from the laboratory bench to the bedside of patients.
