She is the Medical Chair of the Neurorehabilitation Program at the QEII Health Sciences Centre and the vice-chair of the Canadian Paraplegic Society (Nova Scotia). Her focus both clinically and in research is to maximize function in persons with neurologic disorders. Presently she is studying medications that improve ambulation for MS and spinal cord injured patients as well as medications and therapies that help with pain and spasticity control.
“Through exercise therapy, adaptive aids, medications and forward thinking we can remove many of the barriers to independent living in people who suffer from neurologic disease. Research from basic science to clinical trials is one of our greatest tools to determine how to best do this.” |
