Innovation Receives Investment to Advance Cancer Care

Congratulations to Dr. Jeremy Brown and the team at Halifax-based Sound Blade Medical on receiving investment from the Cancer Breakthrough Fund to accelerate the development of its handheld histotripsy technology—a non-invasive, focused ultrasound approach designed to precisely destroy tumours without surgery or radiation. This investment will help advance the technology toward patient trials and bring the promise of more accessible cancer treatment one step closer.

It's inspiring to see groundbreaking medical technology emerging from our local research and innovation ecosystem. We look forward to following Sound Blade's journey as they work to transform the future of cancer care.

We're especially proud to celebrate this achievement with Dr. Brown's lab, including BRC trainee Annika Benson, who is conducting her graduate research in the lab and is also a valued member of the BRC Neuroscience Roadshow team. Congratulations to everyone involved—we're excited to follow the next chapter of this inspiring journey and the impact this innovation could have on patients in the years ahead.
